MONTGO DI BONGO
This traditionally Spanish chiringuito allows you to sit back and relax right on the beach, listening to the sea and great music. It is one of our favourite spots in Jávea. The original architecture, as well as their vintage black and white photos of Jávea are some of the many reasons it is the go-to spot for locals. Jo captured the photo above this text in the 80s, clearly there is nowhere like it!
We continue to enjoy supporting traditional Spanish ceramics and love finding new potteries. These bowls and plates are particularly bold and colourful mostly depicting fish. They hail from Almeria and are handmade.
MERCAT DEL RIU RAU
Every Sunday morning (or evening, during Summer) an organic fruit and vegetable market is held under the arches in the centre of the picturesque village of Jesus Pobre, near Javea at the base of Montgo.
It is a lovely way to spend a Sunday with lots of social activities taking place. Live music, a bar and great local food to sample too.
Then every first Sunday in the month, there is also a Brocante market in the morning which brings the village to life even more.
